About Canine.Lab
We test dog beds like our dogs depend on it.
Canine.Lab is an independent editorial review lab dedicated to one thing: helping dog parents pick the right bed. We don't take sponsorships, we don't accept free product, and we don't run affiliate-first content. Every bed is bought at retail, tested in real homes for 30+ days, and judged on whether dogs actually use it.
Our testing methodology
- 1. Buy at retail. Every bed is purchased anonymously through normal consumer channels.
- 2. Match the dog. Each bed is assigned to at least two dogs that match its category (size, age, temperament).
- 3. Thirty days minimum. Beds are lived on for at least 30 nights — through naps, storms, hair, mud, and laundry day.
- 4. Five wash cycles. Covers are washed at least five times to test durability, shrinkage, and loft retention.
- 5. Vet + behaviorist review. A licensed vet evaluates orthopedic support; a certified behaviorist evaluates calming claims.
- 6. Score, then publish. Beds are scored 1–10 across our spec template (below) and the winner is the one we'd buy again.
